    Maybe they're called peramits because they pass signals to the brain from the peripheral nervous system like the way parameters are the way of getting data into a function in math or computer science.

    Please help, I am an MRI student, I used the following parameters: SIEMENS SKYRA Slice Thickness: 5 mm Repetition Time: 4700 ms Echo Time: 72 ms Spacing Between Slices: 5.6 Echo Train Length: 59 Percent Sampling: 100 Pixel Bandwidth: 1490 Acquisition Matrix: 160 0 0 160 Phase Encoding Direction: Col FOV: 273 x 273 Voxel Pixel size: 1.7125 x 1.7125 x 0.4165 b = 350 s/mm2 At the time of reconstruction, the fibers of the back and chest muscles look perfect, even the fibers passing through the spine, BUT those of the heart, it seems that no signal is detected from those fibers.     I (We?) want our MDs to not just know a lot of facts, but reasons why our world the way it is. That demands some precision, accuracy, and completeness. I ran into a doc the other day who was a specialist in heavy metal toxicology and didn't know what osmosis was. I think the detector loop is for pair-produced gamma rays, not p+ (but I'm only a physicist, not an MD so take that for what it's worth). Isotopes are made in a synchrotron or a LINAC (e.g. Brookhaven). There are more units of radioactivity than one could shake a stick at, would be good to look them up if you're training to be a medical physicist, or an MD. There are also WAY more than 2 radio labels. At least look them over. If there is any kind of reason this would be unnecessary for a nuclear medicine specialist of any kind to know - we're doomed. You got to noise increasing after sample decay, but not why. Don't be afraid to inform your students of math they really should already know - this noise ~ 1/SQRT(n) or sampling error. Please start loading both barrels. I had to look away. Professor Sander, I invite you to have one of your students review the depth of this lecture for extra credit, and raise the bar a bit. It's a scary proposition going into a hospital these days to see that so many of the MDs could be your kids, and they're surprised to learn Ra doesn't glow in the dark. The single jarring fact of any specialist now days, is they will not tolerate learning anything, from any patient, or anyone. This is the most frightening of all 'modern' MD qualities. The worst thing that could have happened to medicine has happened: Publicly traded health care. Maximizing income/cost means health care goes where? Anyone? This is the system your students are joining, and I hope they consider leaving the country for the rest of their training.
